  • Live at Home Tender Extension

Following concerns from our members, we wrote to ECC on your behalf asking them to consider delaying the Live at Home tender. We were concerned that having to complete the tender when the Covid situation was worsening was putting an unfair burden on providers who needed to concentrate on ensuring that their service users and staff were safe. We are pleased that ECC Director of Adult Social Care, Nick Presmeg has responded to us and that the tender deadline has now been extended for six months. We are also pleased that ECC have recognised that they will need to find a way for prices to be adjusted before the new service starts next year.

  • Live at Home – Tender delayed

Essex Care Association have been in discussion with ECC to express our members’ concerns about the timing of the Live at Home tender given the increasing pressure on providers due to Covid-19. We are pleased that they have decided to delay the submission deadline and they sent this message to providers late on Friday:

Live at Home – tender deadline delayed - We have been in discussion with the Essex Care Association about the pressures being faced by the sector currently which are impacting on providers’ ability to complete tender responses.  In recognition of these concerns we have decided to delay the submission deadline by approximately six months to allow the market to focus their attention on immediate operational concerns.  We are conscious that the national living wage is due to increase in April so prices will be adjusted from this point until the new go-live date.  We will confirm the details of how this will be achieved along with a revised tender deadline through the care provider hub shortly.

We are encouraged by this response and will use the additional time to seek clarification of some aspects of the tender.

We have raised your concerns with ECC and here is the letter we sent to Moira McGrath, Director of Commissioning. We have also shared the letter with Cllr.John Spence,  Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, and with Nick Presmeg, Director of Adult Social Care.
