ECA Survey Results - how providers felt they were supported through the Covid-19 crisis

- In terms of OVERALL SUPPORT, the majority of people were very happy, happy or OK
- They were least happy about block booking of beds; payments for voids and access to additional funding.
- COMMUNICATIONS, overall, the majority of people were very happy, happy or OK across all areas.
- No area stands out in a negative way.
- BIGGEST CHALLENGE
- PPE (18%) with a fairly even split across other issues.
- Nobody identified Infection Control as a problem for them
- WHAT ELSE WOULD HAVE HELPED/ WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE PUT IN PLACE?
- Agreed discharge protocols was a clear winner on 23%;
- Phone helpline (20%) and
- Receiving additional funding more quickly (15%).
- KEY ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED NOW
- Clear and consistent guidance across Health and Social Care (22%)
- Joint work with Health (15%) and Workforce wellbeing (15%)
- Recruitment and retention not far behind.
- HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO ENGAGE?
- Respondents would prefer to engage via events that focus on their area of work and events that are joint with Health.
- This was seen as more important than geography.
- Little support for ‘whole Essex’ events.
- OTHER POINTS
- Over 90% of respondents were small/medium providers
- Roughly half of respondents were Home Care, with a third Care Homes and a fifth Supported Living
